As many successful professionals can corroborate, the cycle of education doesn’t end with formal schooling. Rather, it’s an ongoing process on both a personal and career level. Thus, motivated workers actively seek out learning opportunities afforded by certificate programs. According to the Institute of Management Accountants, 40% of organizations consider professional certification as a critical factor in hiring and promotion decision-making.

Obtaining a relevant certification is one of the best ways to signify to potential employers that you’re willing to learn and further develop your skills. If you are new to the industry, it can amplify your credentials and make up for a lack of practical experience. Individuals with certifications are 15% more likely to find satisfactory job opportunities. And whether you’re at the beginning or middle of your career, the insights you gain can help propel you forward in many capacities.

Traditional education provides essential but broad knowledge. On the other hand, certifications allow workers to hone skills tailored precisely to their job responsibilities. For example, 80% of tech professionals note they are useful to their careers. As a result, more and more business executives are realizing the value of certificates, with more than 50% of employers helping to cover the cost.

Not only do certifications provide a leg up during the hiring process, but they also lead to higher job satisfaction rates and more opportunities for career advancement. 80% of executives and 69% of supervisors report that candidates with certifications have an advantage when it comes to promotions and succession planning.

Ultimately, it’s no surprise that professionals who are motivated to improve their knowledge and skillset are more likely to move up and find success within their industry. Certification programs allow such individuals to stand out amongst the crowd and develop essential skills that employers are looking for.
